Wall Street paid for Oracle's 2030 projections and marked down Enphase on rates
Oracle rose 10.73% to $144.54 on Wednesday after issuing revenue projections through fiscal 2030. Vertiv gained 16.6% on third-quarter sales up 61%, and Micron added 5.9% as memory chips rallied on SK hynix's results. The major indexes closed a little higher after the Federal Reserve held its benchmark rate at 3.75% to 4%. Lisa Cook and Beth Hammack dissented in favor of a quarter-point hike.
Two of the S&P 500's worst performers came with weak outlooks. F5 fell 20.43% after its guidance, a company's forecast of its own results, put fiscal 2027 revenue growth at 8% to 9%, down from 11%. Enphase dropped 16.03% to $24.99 on fourth-quarter guidance below its third-quarter revenue. It pointed to higher interest rates and the expiry of a federal home-solar tax credit.
Oracle's gain counted revenue that has been projected, not yet booked. Enphase's warning placed the cost of credit on residential solar buyers, whose demand it called soft. Two Fed officials had just voted to make that credit dearer.
The day's new evidence, on enforcement gaps and digital-money rules, moved no price the desk read. The tape stays blank. Alphabet fell 8.6% after hours on its results, and Thursday's close will show how the market settles it.
